"The storms of life are not always sent to destroy us; often, they reveal our strength, refine our resilience, and magnify the power of the One who keeps us from falling." #TheEISavvyCoach, 2026
As I reflect on a recent journey with my family; I am reminded of a powerful truth about life.
After flying into Toronto to attend the memorial service of my beloved nephew, my brother, his father, met us at the airport. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining brightly, the sky was clear, and nothing suggested that anything lay ahead except an uneventful drive.
As we travelled, message alerts repeatedly flashed across the phone. We barely paid them any attention. After all, what danger could there possibly be on such a perfect day?
Then came the confirmation. Severe weather warnings had been issued, and to reach the USA border, we would have to drive through the storm.
What had begun in bright sunshine suddenly became a journey of uncertainty.
Life is often like that.
Sometimes the storms announce themselves long before they arrive. At other times, they appear without warning. One moment everything seems calm, and the next, the winds begin to blow.
The reality is that every one of us will experience storms.
Some of us are only just beginning to see the clouds gathering on the horizon.
Some are standing right in the middle of fierce winds, wondering how much more we can endure.
Others have emerged from the storm, carrying both the scars and the wisdom that only difficult seasons can bring.
Storms are not reserved for a select few—they are part of the human journey.
The question is not whether storms will come. They will.
The question is: How will we travel through them?
The burdens we carry are not determined solely by the storm itself, but by how we choose to carry them. Fear can make the load heavier. Bitterness can slow our progress. Despair can convince us to stop altogether.
Yet Faith gives us strength. Hope gives us vision. Courage keeps us moving, even when we cannot see beyond the rain.
Just as we continued driving towards our destination despite the weather warnings, there are moments in life when we must keep moving forward. We may need to slow down. We may need to be more cautious. We may need to trust those travelling alongside us. But we must never allow the storm to convince us that we will never reach the other side.
Storms have an incredible way of revealing what calm seasons often conceal. They uncover our resilience, strengthen our character, deepen our compassion, and remind us that we are capable of far more than we ever imagined.
No storm lasts forever.
The rain eventually stops.
The winds eventually settle.
The skies eventually clear.
And when they do, we often discover that we have become stronger than we were before the storm began.
So wherever you find yourself today, whether you are entering a storm, standing in the middle of one, or giving thanks that you have just come through one, do not lose heart.
Keep your eyes fixed on your destination, not just the dark clouds around you.
Keep believing when the path ahead is difficult.
Keep trusting that brighter days are still ahead.
For every storm you survive becomes part of your testimony, every challenge becomes part of your growth, and every step forward is proof that the storm did not defeat you.
Remember this: the storm is a chapter in your story, it is never the whole story.
Beyond every storm, there is still hope.
Beyond every storm, there is still purpose.
And beyond every storm, there is always the promise of clearer skies.
